Text Box: A Early Christmas Present
Hi Dr. M,
Just wanted to share what happened at Family Day at Gabe's class.
As you know, Gabriel is mainstreamed and has an aide. For family day, the class learned a few songs they would sing to the parents.
Gabriel, came in and saw me, ran right over, gave me a big hug and said "Mom, you came, now lets go home ..... " I reminded him that he had his party first, so he easily joined his classmates on the rug and patiently waited for the parents to arrive. Huge accomplishment. .. waiting patiently, dealing with all the stimulation around him, not to mention the anticipation. When the moment came, the class stood up, he took his place right in the middle between his peers, and began to sing and do the dance of hand gestures and body movements that accompanied each song. There were no meltdowns, no quick runs for it, there was no crying, there was no covering of ears or shutting of eyes. There was no REDIRECTION! It was as if Autism left the room and Gabriel stayed behind. For one brief moment that stood on the shoulders of all the therapies, the diets, the chelation, the interventions, ABA, VB, RDI, DIR, all the work you have done these past 6 months, every sacrifice we as a family gave, one moment stood completely normal, a completely normal experience .... not even near normal... ... just seasonally, magically normal. I was speechless. The tears welled up, I tried to behave "normally", but when you live life from a spectrum, normal takes on many shapes, stages, and definitions.
So I just wanted to let you know that possibility sang "the World Is a Rainbow", took a bow, and enjoyed the applause. Possibility came and kissed me on the cheek, gave me a big "squeezy" hug and breathed in a plate of Christmas cookies. I savored for an afternoon the deliciously sweet experience the blend of innocence and childhood surprises us with. My son really understood what it was to be in that particular moment in time. My son taught me how to do the same. So, with a class of 6 and 7 years old children firmly rooted in their belief of Santa and all things fantastical, possibility fed my belief that the state of mind is perhaps more powerful than the state of a mind, and I above all else, believe in possibility.
I know he would not have been able to do this 6 months ago.
Happy holidays! Happy New Year!

Text Box: Dr. Tice,

I would like to share something that happened with Christopher this past week that thrilled me to no end.  As you know he has trouble with his writing and has truly disliked writing in the past.

The other night it was close to bedtime and he said, "Mommy I am going to flip a coin...if it's heads I get to stay up for 1/2 hour and write a story and if it's tails, I go to bed now".  Well, I thought, this is a win win situation for me; so he flipped and got heads.  He stayed up for a 1/2 hour writing and I had to ask him to stop because it was getting late.  That's not even the best part...When he showed me what he wrote, it was a neatly written 3/4 page story about boys playing football...QUITE LEGIBLE! And a great story, but I always knew Christopher had a great imagination.  I used to sit at the computer and let him dictate his stories to me, because I wanted him to enjoy composing great stories and without my help, he would quickly grow frustrated with the writing and lose interest in "writing" his stories.  Now he told me he wants to fill the entire note book with this story about the Football players and have it published…

Imagine that, Christopher wants to be a writer!!  Thank you for all you have done to help my son in this and many other areas!

am so enormously grateful to have found your program...it is changing Chris' life and the whole family is affected in a positive way!

If there is anything I can do to give back, please don't hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,
Karen M

Text Box: Hey Dr. Chris,

It just keeps happening and I keep finding myself searching for the tissues!!!

Christopher is in a skating program...Stunt skating.  The instructor of the entire program (hundreds of kids) came up to me this weekend and said, "I have to tell you, Chris is like a new kid...he seems more confident and comfortable with himself and I can tell he is going to do really well!"

A very good friend's husband that knows Christopher for many years but hasn't seen much of him in the past 4 months commented that he had had a conversation with Christopher and said he seems more mature, more confident and comfortable with himself...more at ease!!!

I know that our home situation makes a big difference, but without you and your team, Chris would not be making the amazing strides that he is both academically and socially ...It's like he loves life again.  I always knew what an amazing, outgoing, funny, smart, gentle, loving kid he was, but now everyone is seeing it and commenting on it and...(wait, I need to grab another tissue) I am so enormously grateful to have found your program...it is changing Chris' life and the whole family is affected in a positive way!

If there is anything I can do to give back, please don't hesitate to ask.

With great fondness,
Karen M

A follow up letter one year later from Karen...

The following is a sampling of letters,  notes, and quotes  from parents (and teachers) over the years with regards to their children’s response and progress as a result of enrollment in the Brain Balance Program™.

We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to all our parents and children who have worked so hard with us over the years. Without the dedication and effort of the children and parents we could not enjoy the unprecedented levels of success that we experience daily.
